CSI Frankfurt 2024: IDEAL Study Preliminary Results

The CSI Frankfurt 2024 congress took place on Thursday 20 June. In this congress we showed the preliminary results of the IDEAL study, a retrospective study that we are conducting to assess the impact of flow dynamics according to device implant depth after left atrial appendage occlusion.

The results were derived from 59 patients, 27%  of whom developed device-related thrombus (DRT). By comparing the simulation results with the actual diagnoses, several key points were concluded: flow dynamics play a crucial role in preventing DRT, and not only device position, but also patient anatomy, and heart function significantly influence the formation of DRT.
