We are VirTest, where innovation and healthcare converge to create advanced future computational models to develop digital twins and advanced flow simulations.
Our story starts within the Physense research group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, seeking to bring technology to the patients in order to improve their quality of life.
Our Journey
Our company's journey began under the umbrella of the national project COMPILAAO (2016-19). Since then, Physense group has raised 2.1€ million in research of left atrial appendage procedure.
In 2019 we embarked on the development of a platform to support clinical interventions with simulations, which at the end became VIDAA (Virtual Implantation of Devices for the Left Atrial Appendage).
During the following years, we received positive feedback around VIDAA. This marked the commencement of our work to further improve the platform and enabling us to further lay the groundwork for VirTest.
Our Impact
The allure of our platform and simulations quickly transcended the boundaries of our research group. On March 2023, we participated in our first live case at the CSC Structural Congress. This marked a significant step in showcasing the practical implications and value our innovations bring to the medical community.
In 2023, we successfully conducted two additional live cases. As we move into 2024, we are currently engaged in a comprehensive retrospective study named IDEAL. This study involves over 200 patients and collaboration with 9 different hospitals, marking a significant advancement in VIDAA’s progression.
VIDAA Emerges
As a natural progression in our journey, we made the pivotal decision to establish VIDAA as a dedicated entity. VIDAA is more than just a product; it’s a commitment to advancing healthcare, improving patient lives, and driving innovation within the medical field.
Our team continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible, working closely with medical professionals and device companies to shape the future of atrial appendage closure procedures.
The future of VirTest
At VirTest, we want to explore new frontiers through emerging technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality. Our vision includes expanding into various cardiovascular interventions, solidifying our commitment to health innovation.
